Italian and English Lessons for Expats and Professionals

I work primarily with expats and international professionals who want to develop their Italian for real-world use, as well as with Italian professionals who want to improve their English communication.My work is designed to help you communicate with greater clarity, precision and confidence — in everyday life, at work and in more demanding professional contexts.My approach is structured and practical. Rather than relying on standard textbooks or fixed sequences of topics, I work selectively and strategically, focusing on the language you actually need.A clear method: Assess → Practise → Apply.We identify what is limiting your communication, work specifically on those areas, and apply what you learn immediately in real contexts.Grammar and vocabulary are developed together, gradually and precisely. I introduce grammatical structures when they are needed and always in connection with the language you actually use, so that learning is consolidated rather than fragmented.The aim is not to memorise pre-constructed phrases, but to develop the ability to choose and use language consciously and accurately. Over time, communication becomes more independent, flexible and natural.Many learners begin to communicate more independently after six to seven one-hour sessions, although the pace naturally depends on previous knowledge, objectives and individual needs.For those living in or visiting Florence, I also offer in-person Italian language and cultural conversation sessions through Florence Plus One, using the city itself as a context for language, observation and conversation rather than following the format of a conventional guided tour.Alongside my work in Italian, I provide English coaching for Italian professionals, particularly for those who need to communicate effectively in professional, academic or international environments.The focus throughout is on effective communication, linguistic precision and cultural awareness rather than simply completing a conventional language course.My approach has been developed and refined through more than 20 years of international experience working with adult learners in academic, professional and corporate contexts.With a PhD in Italian Studies, I have worked across Europe, Australia and the United States in both academic and professional environments.Among my direct clients have been Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney and Lendlease.
